Enfin de retour en Afrique…

J’écris ces lignes de mon hôtel du Cap en Afrique du Sud où je suis pour le lancement et le pilote d’un événement qui va je l’espère faire date dans l’histoire numérique du continent africain : l’Africa Code Week – la Semaine africaine du code et le bel article de Samir dans Le Monde sur le sujet et son histoire.

Initiée par le département Corporate Social Responsibility de SAP pour la zone Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA), cette aventure a été rendue possible par qu’une petit groupe de gens et d’organisations y ont cru : le Galway Education Center en Irlande, le Cape Town Science Center et Simplon.co bien entendu !

Sous le haut patronage des secrétaires d’Etat à la Francophonie et au numérique, Annick Girardin et Axelle Lemaire, cet événement a été lancé officiellement hier soir, voici quelques photos (de moi #egotrip mais c’est un peu l’idée de ce blog).

Iam frederic bardeau, the CEO of Simplon, which is a social company who propose some free 6 months coding training to underprivileged young unemployed people from poor suburbs and rural areas in France, in romania and now with the help of SAP in Johannesburg within Sci Bono the Discovery science center

Simplon is very active and activist in sharing coding skills to children, women, unemployed talents so when SAP first mention the project of adapting the european code week for africa, I confirm that simplon would give all its energy to make this happen

Africa has enough divides and inequalities not to add a new one: the digital divide. So for africa’s future, for africàn youth: Africa code week is very important to raise the Coding issue in the continent. Coding is like having super powers, to understand our world, to profit from all the jobs opportunities

For this africa code week, Simplon will help for the coordination, for the workshops with our friends from SAP and Galway Education Center (please stand up) and also we will help for the content that will be freely distributed on OpenSAP which is a fabulous online plateform (please Ian stand up and applause him).

But we want everyone to get in the digital train, and It won’t be possible without your help. Governements, education professional, companies, NGOs: we all have to seize this historic opportunity

And because this africa code week is a pan continental initiative, with a majority of french speaking countries : let’s say It in french. Africa code week is La semaine africaine du code.
